CASTOR chair by BIG-GAME (Lausanne) for Karimoku New Standard (Japan).

“CASTOR is an essential furniture range designed by BIG-GAME for Japanese company Karimoku New Standard.

All pieces are made from Japanese oak which is gained from low-diameter trees that have previously remained significantly underused, ending up mostly as wood chips for paper pulp.

The CASTOR chair’s ergonomics derive from classic chairs found in traditional Swiss cafés. It makes it a light, compact and comfortable seat. The CASTOR chair is designed both for domestic and commercial spaces.

Karimoku’s tradition derives from a deep understanding of craftsmanship, bound together with innovative technologies to build furniture that meets the highest requirements of quality and sustainability. The company’s motto is: a piece of furniture has to live at least as long as the tree it comes from.

The CASTOR chair has received the iF design award in 2013, the Swiss Design Award and the Japanese GOOD Design Award in 2014.” — BIG-GAME
